Tuesday WIP 6.23.09

Image
The butterfly pullover that I started on my birthday is coming along. I'm 3/4 of the way done with the front. I'm a bit worried that it will be too small though. After the last hat that I finished I'm a bit nervous about size. I checked the gauge so many times I was seeing starts when I started. As for the socks I'm working on - I doubt I'll finish them before the July 1st Safari knit along. But, maybe my goal should be to finish one sock. We'll just have to see. The question I'm wondering now is how long to make the top. There is enough yarn to make them a bit longer than normal. The pattern calls for 6" but I'm thinking about 7 or 8. Any thoughts?

Snuggles -vs- Knitting

Image
In general Bend wants to snuggle and I like to as well ... but at a certain point my knitting knocks him out of the way and I want to just get my knit on. After this past weekend of not having him around and his health issues - snuggling comes first. We snuggled all day. Very little knitting was had.

Cats & Knitting.

On my other blog I posted what is going on with Bend. I really can't go through writing it all out again. Needless to say I need a little cat attention and Methow is trying to pick up the slack. I know she looks a bit crazy - but really she is dancing on my lap while making smacking noises with her mouth. Odd - but comforting.

Spinning Wheel.

Image
The rest of my spinning wheel showed up today - but out of the massive box there was one thing I was really hoping to see - INSTRUCTIONS. Now I'm going to have to surf the web to find how to put this darn thing together!

Birthday Caston.

Image
I've been waiting to cast on for this project. I finally decided on my birthday to do the gauge swatch and get my buns in gear. Of course Bend wasn't feeling very well and wanted to help out. Very nice of him! Although it took me 6 sets of needles to figure out exactly what I want to do. Thank goodness I wasn't doing massive gauge swatches. On another note FedEx has no idea where my second box (with the spinning wheel is). I'll call tomorrow to be a pain in the butt again!

When They F*CK You At The Drive Through.

Image
I think it was Lethal Weapon where the guy used this line, "They f*ck you at the drive through." In reference to take out of course. But, for me - it is whenever I get my hopes up. The spinning wheel has taken forever to get here and was scheduled to be delivered on June 13th by Fed Ex. It shipped in two boxes one being 14 lbs and the other being 32 lbs. The smaller of the two boxes did show up and was just the wheel part. The other box, according to Fed Ex, now has no delivery day. I wanted to cry! To top it off I made a big push to finish up the hat that I was working on and - did ... but it is INFANT sized. I am now sure I must have screwed the gauge up something fierce. What the heck happened? I triple checked everything. I guess someone is getting a baby hat! And yes, the hat is on the cat ... that is how small it is!

Oh - Ah - Packages

Image
The spinning wheel hasn't shown up - but some new sock yarn and roving has arrived. Half of the roving is from Liberty's Yarn and the other half is from Alpaca Direct. Since I had a gift card I thought I'd go with a blend of fibers I haven't played with before. Liberty's Yarn is something new I found on Ravelry and her colorways are fantastic. I can't wait to test some of the sock yarn! My spinning wheel is still on schedule to arrive tomorrow. I'll be a spinning fool once we get it set up!

Thursday WIP

Image
I'm keeping busy with projects these days. I'm really enjoying the fair isle hat - fun to knit and moving along very quickly. I'm thinking I might make some of these for the holidays. Very cute, fun, and using up left over sock yarn always makes me happy! The SOTM from Yarn is ... stretchier than I thought and also inspiring to knit. I'd place a goal of finishing the top of it by this weekend - but I know I wont. My spinning wheel is suppose to show up on Saturday (so is an order of fibers). I plan to spend Sunday spinning away!

Urg - Really?

Image
Here is the cami top that I'm working on. I finally got around to reading the rest of the instructions and you knit up to a spot over the top of your breast - then you bind off all the stitches. Then you cast on and do a bit of lace for the top - and then sew them together. You don't graft. But, sew them. I'm now trying to decide what to do at the top. URG! I hate it when I get bit in the butt by not reading a pattern all the way through from the beginning.

WIP - Sunday

I cast on for two new projects yesterday. A cap called Syncopated (Interweave Summer 207) and the next SOTM called Gardiner Seedy Rib Socks. I'm pretty excited to have something other than st. st. to knit up right now.

Wool - Wool - Wool

I'm still waiting for my spinning wheel - has yet to ship and needless to say I'm a bit upset about it. I ordered some new roving (from someone I found online, pumpkinmama - but Anne knew about) and it is beautiful! Absolutely wonderful looking. I can't wait for the new wheel to get here so that I can spin it up! Some new sock yarn from Ocean of the Winds just showed up today. I'm not sure what you'd call the color and I don't have a pattern ready for them ... but when I saw them online I just knew I had to have them! Her stuff is amazing. Great feeling and her dye job is ... well it left me with a longing for the yarn. I think this has to be the last sock yarn I'm going to buy for a while. Now for my inside voice fantasy - I have 3 new projects that I want to get started on. As most of you know I hate casting on ... that is what is really holding me back ... but in my brain I've already got these new projects on the needles and I'm making prog

Fibers Ho!

This past weekend, after Methow was done with it of course, I got the dried double plied yarn skeined up and measured. So far I have around 333 yards so far and still some more to ply up and get washed. Too much fun!
