W.I.P January 30

I just finished clue 4 for the Mystery sock knit along. I was worried that maybe they will be too tight - but I looked and the last sock knit along (with the same yarn) was done with the same size needles. So, I'm feeling better. I can't wait for the next few clues.

Spinning Friday.

Image
I have finally finished the first 2 oz of the second to last Oceanwind Knits club. The green still has to be spun and then plyed with the pink. After that I still have one more kit from Oceanwind ... so I'll have to think of something dreamy to do with it. Slow progress. But, progress none the less.

I have gotten clue three and have finished sock 1 and am half way through sock 2. I only hope I get sock 2 done before the next clue comes out.

NEW BAG.

This weekend a great friend gave me a lovely knitting bag. Covered with skiing and snow sport monkeys. Adorable, useful, perfect and fantastic. Jessalu's bags are just the perfect gift for anyone!

I'm done with clue two and am waiting for clue 3. These socks are pretty fun to knit so far!

OUCH.

I have a goal to knit up at least half of my sock yarn and half of my regular yarn in the next 2 years. I decided to do the math and figured out some interesting numbers. Here are some totals. I have 71,973 yards of yarn. (75 pairs worth off sock yarn and 38 sweaters and or hats) The width of Alaska is 2,604,800 yards. Which means I have ~3% of the width of Alaska in yarn. OUCH! Let's take into consideration that I did a handsome amount of knitting this past year and I knit 12,567 yards worth in 2009. This means that it will take me ~6 years to work through my whole stash. Therefore .... I really am sticking with my not buying of anything new and working through the stash. Wish me luck!

New Fiber Club - End of Another

Image
Here is the last roving from Oceanwind Knits . If you haven't checked out her stuff you really should. I'm sorry to see her club stopping and hoping that in the future it will start up again. My first shipment from the new fiber club showed up this past week. I still haven't finished up the previous club fibers (last two rovings) ... but I'm working on it. This is called Citrus and is BFL - 4 oz.

Well the second clue came in early yesterday. I noticed it around 7:30pm. Of course I jumped on it and got the first sock through clue two of the mystery sock knit along. I bet I get sock 2 done tonight.

When Not Knitting

Yep - while ill and not feeling into knitting ... more fish counted cross stitch. Can you make out any of the fish yet?

I know - it has been a while since I posted any real knitting progress. That is what happens when you catch a cold I guess. I'm currently waiting on the second clue for the Girls Night Out Mystery Knit along. Should be tomorrow I think. On other knitting fronts I've finished mitten 1 of The Tree of Life Mitten. Because I'm using two colors I've pulled the yarn a bit tighter than my gauge called for - this means that the mitten is a bit small. I've tried to block it out bigger (we'll see once it dries).

Pretty In Pink

Image
This was the last kit that came from Oceanwind Knits. There is a green and pink section. I still haven't decided if I'll do pink double plyed or pink plyed with green. I'll have to decide before I get too far.

Not Knitting

Image
I decided to not knit tonight. I'm cross stitching instead. This is actually a fish pattern (not that you can see that). Methow could care less if I want to work on the needle point or not. She loves crafts!

Ravelry Surfing.

While looking at socks made out of Online sock yarn (looking for something in particular and not finding it), I decided to try something new this year. Every day (or so) I'll randomly find a person on Ravelry (based on a knitted item, or avatar or comment) and start reading their blogs. I of course wont be able to keep up with 365 new blogs ... but I'm going to give it a try. Death By Knitting was the first today! There are so many great blogs out there by crafty people .... I'm excited to be inspired by the fiber world!

These are the Mystery Sock II - Girls Night Out. I'm doing both socks at the same time and have 12 rows of sock 2 to finish before I'm ready for clue 2 (which comes out January 20th I think).

Mystery Sock II: Girls Night Out

Girls Night Out knit along is suppose to be started or in progress by January 15. I've cast on for mine. The plan is to have the top and 1 repeat down the leg done by the end of the weekend.

2010 DeStash Party

Image
I have bags of left over yarn. I've been slowly trying to use them (ties and weaving projects and baby socks). But, my plan for 2010 is to move through larger amount of it. I'm made 3 sets of 50g balls in a plan to work socks out of them. I'm sure they will be fun to make and the colors will be LOUD LOUD LOUD! pssst ... Anne do you notice any of your leftovers in there?
