W.I.P September 28

Image
This is the Yogini Bolero. I know it doesn't look like much yet - but I'm totally before on the KAL and plan to finish it up before the end of September. Possible?

This is the large granny square afghan that I've been working on since summer. A girlfriend, Katie and I have an agreement that we get stuck doing extra push-ups and sit ups if we don't do a row each week. Each row that we finish is longer than the previous. Hopefully this means that I finish it sometime this year!

Spinning Wednesday?

Image
Here was the roving. 60% Merino and 40% Bamboo (the first time I've spun this blend) Here are the singles before plying. Turns out I got 436 yards of sport weight plyed yummy yarn. This was from Squoosh and the color was Sugared Visletr. Very fun to ply and the last thing I started at the end of the tour de fleece. I'm sort of excited to get to move onto something new.

You may think these look like something you have seen on my blog before. The answer is - they are. I made them a while back in black. This was a KAL with another blogger buddy. I finally got these off the needles though. Project Details: Started August 7th. Finished September 19th. Really it took so long because I was being lazy and working on other things. I used Knit Picks Swish Bulky yarn. Worked perfect for this project and comes in great colors!

Spinning Friday.

Image
I'm not sure how long it has been since I posted a spinning Friday update. But, I have been spinning. And as you can see from the TV in the back ground - watching death and destruction films while doing it. There is one issue with spinning in my house ... METHOW! She loves to be on my lap. And likes to stand and do the happy kitty dance while I work. Her dancing is really hard to deal with while spinning - but I keep trying. Fingers crossed I finish up these 2 oz soon!

This is the vest from New England Knits. The back part. I'm suppose to be 13" before I start the arm holes. Really I was suppose to decrease a bit for the waist but missed that in the pattern and am not going to rip it out. I've been hoping to finish up this vest (which shouldn't take me very long) ... but it has been taking me forever. Too much on my plate I think.

F.O. Sock Pattern

Image
I know you can't see much. It is suppose to be that way. These are designed for a club that will be starting in January. I can't tell you much, other than the design is finished, the test knitter is almost done, and I really really love them! I'm so happy that I was asked to create these. A fun pattern to knit and to wear.

New Patterns

I just put out another new pattern last night. The Owls Have Eyes is now up on Ravelry and on the sidebar.

I've finished the first 2 oz of this Squooshy roving and really do like how it has turned out. I can't wait to finish the next 2 oz and ply this bad boy up. I've made it a bit further on the Vest from New England Knits. I was hoping to have more done over the weekend ... but I just haven't gotten around to it. I think this will be a productive week though - Mike is on travel.

Yup. Another Unfinished Project.

Image
In all of the boxes of fabric I came across another unfinished quilt. Mostly cut out - not pieced at all and interesting fabric with a leaf pattern (it came as a whole kit). So, I sit down to figure out where I was and what to do next when I realize that the reason I put it down in the first part is that the next step calls for a bias bar and I have no freaking clue what that is. So, I use the amazing google. Figure out what the bias bar is - what it is for and try to apply it to this project. I made my first two tubes with the bar and they are crap. By the third I have it down though. So, I spent last night working on piecing the leafs together and will begin with the sewing tomorrow. I wonder how long this will take me. The kit is for a queen size and goodness there are a million parts (okay more like 400 ... but seems like 1 million).

Quilt Quest ... Answered.

Image
Remember this quilt? Well I figured out why I never finished it ... I was short on some of the fabric. Of course the fabric was bough 10 years ago ... so there was no getting any replacement fabric. I took what was the backing and added a large boarder. Then I bought some lovely green fabric for the backing. Now let quilting begin!

F.O. Baby Hat

Image
It always feels good to finish small projects - although it seems like large projects go on hold for small ones. This was for the month of August - for our charity knit of orphan African baby hats. I did manage to get 2 done. Not as many as I would like - but at least I got some done. Now to just get everyone hats and mail them off! Ah ... finished projects.

FOUND FOUND FOUND!

Image
Unloading boxes of fabric is like Christmas. While digging in a large box I found this quilt which I was working on before the fire. It is suppose to be a king quilt. I have another whole row to do. I might work on this while Mike is out of town. Fabric that you already own - that you get back after months - is so fun. And I didn't know that there was a kitty in the background of the photo. Hee hee.

On The Wheel.

Image
HAPPY September first all! It has been so long since I got on the spinning wheel. Since the tour I've taken a big break. Well I'm back. I'm 1 oz into this lovely purple Squooshy fiber and I think I might get 2 oz done by the weekend. Maybe plying over the weekend? Plying on Monday? Let's keep our fingers crossed.
