Happy Valentine's Day!

Image
In an attempt to get a little spinning done I decided to do a colorway for the season. This makes me think happy Valentine thoughts! Nearly 2oz done!

Friday Spinning.

Here is the original roving. This is 100% wool called Dragon's Breath I think. It is from a buddy on ravelry. Check out her site ! I got 196 yards of worsted weight yarn out of it. I decided to try for something thicker than thin because I'm thinking about doing mittens out of it. I feel happy to finally get something off the wheel.

Spinning Wednesday?

Here was the roving. 60% Merino and 40% Bamboo (the first time I've spun this blend) Here are the singles before plying. Turns out I got 436 yards of sport weight plyed yummy yarn. This was from Squoosh and the color was Sugared Visletr. Very fun to ply and the last thing I started at the end of the tour de fleece. I'm sort of excited to get to move onto something new.

Ode To Roving.

We picked up a large portion of our cloth/fiber/type stuff from the cleaners this weekend. I dug through every box looking for my yarn and roving. I found that the last 3 packages that showed up from my fiber clubs was ruined :( I'm pretty sad about that ... but here is what made it! I think I'm neck deep in roving ... and loven' it!

What The Wheel Says.

Here is another Liberty yarn roving. I now have a small stash of roving that I'm working to spin through. Enjoying every minute of it! Sorry for the low quality of the photos. My camera isn't with me - and the cell phone sucks at taking photos. This is called Icky Thump. I'm really excited to see how it looks once it is plyed. I got 4oz and am doing 2 spools and plying them. I'm currently almost done with the first 2oz.

OH GOODNESS.

Lori at Oceanwind Knits has done it again. OUCH I'M INSPIRED! I'm tempted to take the purple Anne fiber and just rip it off the bobbin to be able to spin this up. And I question myself; 1) do I spin each color up and then ply it? 2) do I mix them 1/2 and 1/2 3) do I do the blue 1/8 and the red 1/16 and then ply them. THE OPTIONS ARE ENDLESS and I want to spin it up now now now! This is 4 oz of Merino seacell roving. Thanks you for a wonderful surprise today.

Spinning Friday

Well I am actually getting my buns in gear enough to post something on Friday. I'm 1/2 of the way through a 1/3 ball of roving for this. It is very slow going - but I'm happy with the results so far. My goal is to - uhm - really finish up the 1/3 ball that I pulled out by the end of the weekend. Possible? I also just got this book. I had thumbed through a friends and decided I had to have it. Now of course the desire to knit even more socks.

Spinning Friday Update.

All day I was lamenting the fact that I didn't start my post earlier. I just got back from seeing District 9 - not fantastic - but okay ... and I thought I'd give you a spinning Friday report. I know it is the same fiber as before - but it is coming along nicely (other than the fact that there is a ton of it - which makes me feel a bit pressured). My goal is to have 1/3 of the roving spun by Sunday. There are 3 balls of it - and I think that might be doable.
