Stash Back!

Image
We went down to meet with the fiber tech people today. They showed us a lot of our stuff and I got to pick out some yarn to bring home. There is something about looking through my own stuff and getting some skeins of yarn that just - well it makes me feel like Christmas, birthday and happiness all in one. Thank goodness stuff survived!

W.I.P March 25

I feel like I'm knitting at a snails pace. But, I've finished one sock and am casting on for sock two. My goal will be to have sock two done by April 15. Possible? I sure do hope so.

Stash Enhancement.

I talked with the fiber guy again and some of my clothing, fabric for quilting and yarn/roving will be going to the dump. He said there was nothing they could do to save it (sort of makes me feel like crying). I still haven't seen a list of exactly which yarn isn't making it ... my fingers are crossed that it is crap yarn. My father's girlfriend asked for black socks and I've been dying to make the Bella Mittens. So, I ordered some yarn just for it. Bella Mitten Yarn Black sock yarn. Now I just need to get my butt over to Anne's house to use her ball winder. You never notice how much you love it until you don't have one!

All The Washcloths

Image
In the end with 165 yards I made 2.5 dishcloths. The small one I'll use as a kitchen scrubby.

F.O. Lace Washcloth

Image
Project Details: Started March 2nd. Finished March 18th (with a house fire in the middle there). This cloth was actually covered in ash when I took it out of the house. Seems to have washed up nightly. This is a Lana Hames pattern and took ~ half a skein of Hemp for Knitting Allhemp6 (which runs about 165 yards). I'm making the second one right now. The final dimensions were 8" square. Once washed and dried the hemp gets a bit softer and feels much nicer on the skin!

OMG - YARN YARN YARN

Ah ... feeling good about a new package of yarn showing up. Glorious wonderful yarn. I love fiber!

Tuesday is For Smiling!

W.I.P March 13 2010

I cast on for these socks 2 days ago. The yarn smells terrible but wasn't covered in any ash. The pattern is called Fannie's Sock Pattern and it was made by the company that dyed the sock yarn. Currently this is my stash and library. Yep. All of it. I'm sure that I will go through both skeins in no time - and how many clog socks can I possibly knit up? I guess we'll see. My super BFF has been printing out patterns that I lost in the fire which has been making me feel less like I've lost my left arm. I can't wait to talk to the fiber guy in 3 weeks to check on house the de-smoking of my stash is going!

Life Interrupted.

Image
Our life has become very interrupted with a house fire this past Monday. We are all okay - but everything in our house is ash, smoke and fire damaged (INCLUDING MY YARN STASH AND ROVING). Here is a photo of my craft room floor where you can see the amount of ash covering everything (I moved one of the patterns so you could easily see). Lucky for me that I had all my projects laid out of March Madness. What a fool I was!

F.O. Ribbed Scarf

Image
This is for March Madness and my first 2010 Red Scarf Project scarf. I know - it isn't red - but it will be fine. Project Details: Started March 2nd and finished March 7th. I used 4 skeins of Crystal Palace Yarns Cotton Chenille Solid. I worked on size 8 needles and still plan to dry this scarf a bit to make it less lacy.

F.O. Knitted Neck Scarf

Image
Here is an item for the March Madness plan of attack. Project Details: Knitted Neck Scarf (by Martha Stewart - please don't judge me). Thinking a lovely gift for a friend. Made out of 100% alpaca from Blue Sky Alpacas. I used size 3 dpns. Started on March 2nd and finished on March 5th. A fast and easy knit.

Well ... we'll see.

There is a badge now on the right of the blog where I have an artfire studio to see knitting stitch markers. They are relatively inexpensive and well - dare I say fantastic. Mix and match. Pick what you like. Let me know what i can do for you!

W.I.P March 3th (March Madness Continues)

Hemp washcloths. Gift neck scarf (super soft alpaca) Simple rib scarf for the Red Scarf project. I decided to cast on for a number of projects so that I could at least feel like I'm making some progress. I was feeling very slow with the mittens!

March Madness Day 1.

My projects are lines up and I'm working hard to get through mitten #2 of The Tree of Life. The real question is what to start tonight? Oh so many projects!!!!
