Tour de Fleece - Day 1

Image
I probably wont update every day.  I'll most likely end up doing a few days at a time.  But, since it was the start today I figure I should give an update. I finished spinning 4 oz of 50% Merino/Tencel.  It was 4 oz from Woolen Mill St. Yarn (a fiber club I was in a few years ago).  I didn't prep the fiber but just split it and tried to keep the colors as long as possible.  After that I plied it and ended up with 220 yards of DK weight yarn.  The colorway is Electric Rose Garden (which I think fits).

The Tour!

Image
Once a year I get a big push for spinning.  The Tour de Fleece starts today.  I plan on spinning more than knitting for the next few weeks.  In preparation for the tour I decided to log all of my roving into Ravelry (something I have yet to do).  Turns out I have 235 oz of roving or ~14.5 lbs.  This is way less than I thought I had (which is a good thing).  The photo is of Zooey snuggling up with all of my 4 oz hand dyed braids.  I'm sure she will be really into the tour in a few years :) My plan for this tour is to get through the roving in this picture: I've selected an assortment of fiber types and amounts (some are close to a pound and some are just 4 oz). LET THE TOUR BEGIN!

Baby Book!

A friend of my hubby gave us a book for Zooey. It is based on an old Ukrainian folk tale. It is about a little boy who wants a white mitten - and her hand knitting it for him. Nothing like a good story about hand knit mittens!

WIP Wednesday

I figure maybe a work in progress post might be nice. Currently I have a few things on the needles. 1. A pair of TTL socks 2. Secret pullover 3. Black quilt 4. Berry Patch Socks Here are my goals. 1. Get to the foot of the socks 2. Knit knit knit 3. Quilt this weekend 4. Get another inch done on the leg

Quilt In Progress

I decided to change up the backing and add a boarder around it to make it bigger. Next step - quilting!

What To Do

Image
So I have had these socks on the needles since August 14th 2011. I hate the pattern and am not really a fan of the yarn. They sit there and look at me. Telling me to work on them. Well guess what - life is to short to hate hour knitting projects. I'm not going to feel bad ... but you are now getting frogged!

FO Part of the Flock!

Another little gift for Zooey. I think she will get it for Christmas. Project Details: started on April 27 and finished on June 21. I found the pattern hard to follow ... But I think it still came out nice. DH wanted the neck thinner - so that is what I did. I used nice inexpensive alpaca yarn from Hobby Lobby.

FO Swap Mittens

Project Details: Started on June 5th and finished on June 15. I used cascade from my stash. This is the replacement project for the cape that failed.

WIP Weekend Edition

Image
Remember the stuff I wanted to get done? Well I made no progress on quilts and instead worked on the mittens. Yet I didn't finish them. I must push this week!!

WIP Goal

Image
I've decided to set a few simple goals. #1. Finish up these mittens this weekend #2. Cut out the side pieces to Zooey's quilt #3. Make some progress on Zooey's sheep What type of goals do you have?

I like getting these calendars each year. Tea towels I believe is what you call them. I want to work on my machine quilting and decided to try swirls for this one. I first penciled out the swirls and then went to town. I like how it came out!
