Fiber Friday.

Image
Remember this fiber? This is the last roving from the Oceanwinds Knit club. I've only just started working on it. I'll have to dig out the blend again - it is a hand-carded and very interesting to work with. I can't wait to get through it and see how the finished product looks. As I was spinning this up I thought it was all gray - and then I turned the lights on in the room and was amazed to see that there were bits of other colors. I received my new roving package from Woolen Mill St. Yarns. It is so cool. 50% superwash, 50% tencel and the colorway is Electric Rose Garden.

Oh Roving.

Do you remember this original roving? I think it was Novembers kit. The blend is wonderfully dreamy. Singles. Final Spun Details: 418 yards. I'm calling it watermelon (really called Peppi). Sport weight and a mix of fine merino and 20% cashmere. The green is the 20% cashmere and so fluffy and delicious. I'm thinking about making a hat or something that will be right next to my skin!

Pretty In Pink

This was the last kit that came from Oceanwind Knits. There is a green and pink section. I still haven't decided if I'll do pink double plyed or pink plyed with green. I'll have to decide before I get too far.

Finished Handspun

Remember this is what the package looked like when it showed up. Two bags and only 3.5 oz. For some reason I thought it was 4oz (maybe because of how long it took me to finish). This was the kit from Oceanwind Knits. Here are the singles. They took me a long time to spin up - not because of the wool - but because of the size. I decided to try and do the finest spinning I've ever done. Here are close ups of the finished double plyed yarn. Project Details: Alpaca, merino, silk, corrindale blend. 3.5 oz. Hand-carded batts. Came out with 477 yards of fingering weight. I love the feel and colors. Now I just need to figure out what to do with it!

Finished Waterlilies Fiber.

Dreamy. Just dreamy. Singles. Oceanwind Knits Waterlilies (August's club I believe). Merino-secell roving 100% superwash. Fantastic to spin and well ... a dream. I'm so inspired and impressed that I feel like I need more more more. Lori really out did herself. I'm thinking I might make a hat with this. 234 yards of DK weight double ply.

Spinning Friday Waterlilies.

Here is the first 2 oz of the Oceanwind Knits . This is the pink, yellow, orange half. The next 2 oz are blues and greens. I'll spin it up and ply it with this pink. I'm hoping to finish spinning the rest of this before the next package comes. Fingers crossed. I think when I'm done - depending on yardage - I'll make a lovely hat out of this. This is some of the most fantastic yarn I've ever spun. Fast, easy and like cotton candy!

OH GOODNESS.

Lori at Oceanwind Knits has done it again. OUCH I'M INSPIRED! I'm tempted to take the purple Anne fiber and just rip it off the bobbin to be able to spin this up. And I question myself; 1) do I spin each color up and then ply it? 2) do I mix them 1/2 and 1/2 3) do I do the blue 1/8 and the red 1/16 and then ply them. THE OPTIONS ARE ENDLESS and I want to spin it up now now now! This is 4 oz of Merino seacell roving. Thanks you for a wonderful surprise today.
