F.O. Infant Hat

Image
Project Details: I had to get a gift done by this Sunday. So, I was in a bit of a hurry with patterns. This hat came out perfect through. Now I just need to find a good kid mitten pattern. I used one skein of Rowan Handknit cotton (96yards). Red color. On size 6 needles. Other than that I didn't change anything in the pattern - which was fun and quick. I started on July 28th and finished on July 29th. A 1 day knit!

Blog Lovin'

Not Another Princess gave me a blog award yesterday. Just so cute and fun. Thanks for the props girl! Now my turn I guess. The fantastic badge is really like something you pass to your BFF in biology. Blog Award Instructions: - Write a post on your blog about the award. - Choose 5 bloggers to pass it on to. - Then, of course, let them know you’ve given it to them! My awards go to - the kind - the deserving hard working bloggers of: 1. PoMoGolightly - because her creative flair is something to try and create! 2. A Friend To Knit With - because her photos are crazy creative! 3. How The West Was Spun - because she always pushes me to be faster, better, quicker knitter. 4. Yarn Crawl - because her sewing keeps me on my toes! 5. Shut Up And Knit - because she freely uses the F-bomb and S-bomb and I just love it! Please I can always speak freely and she never takes it the wrong way!

Well That Is It!

Yep. It has happened to me. I never thought it would - but it has. I'm starting with this book. Wait, let me back up and explain. I've heard about "crazy" people who have pushed to knit every item in a book before. Silly. Mad. Crazy I know. I've always thought ... well there has to be one or two patterns you don't really want to knit up that bad. This book has got me. EVERY FREAKING PATTERN. I'm going to start this weekend. I'm going to start a Ravelry group. I can't help myself. I need every item in this book and I'm not even sure anyone will get them as gifts. MINE MINE MINE. Oh I feel like a crazy person myself now. Anyone up for joining in the insanity?

New Knitting Books!

Oh goodness yes! Good day for knitting packages!

W.I.P July 25

I figure it is time to get back to my red scarf projects. This is from the Brooklyn Tweed pattern . I'm using two different yarns that are darker and lighter gray.

I'm just a bit further into my challenge yarn. I hope to have this done before the tour ends. Fingers crossed!

F.O. Bella Mittens

Project Details: Started on July 17 and finished on July 23rd. Not a very long knit and quick and easy. I've decided to make a couple more pairs. They are nice tall gloves. I used Knit Picks Swish Bulky 2 skeins in black on size 8 dpns. I have the same yarn in gray which I think will be used for another pair. I made no changes to the pattern and followed it to the letter. Holiday knitting in July. Perfect.

Well I'm going with a gift roving - from Squoosh Fiberarts. I'm spinning it as thin and as fine as possible. Enjoying this roving.

URG! What to do.

Image
Do you remember these projects? Well I just got them back from the fiber cleaner as non-salvageable. They could do nothing to save them. The needle point kills me. The sweater is even worse. What to do? Toss them? Hold on to the smelly things to look at them every once and a while? I just don't know. Thoughts?

Tour de Fleece Day 18.

Remember the roving? First single. Both singles. Another 4 oz done. I'm sure now I wont make my goal of 2 pounds for the tour ... but I have worked pretty hard to make some good progress. This was from Christina Marie Potter's roving club. I ended up with 460 yards of sport weight yarn. I'm not sure what I want to do with it - but the pink makes me smile!

W.I.P July 19

I cast these on for the July's Hot group. Mittens in the hottest weather we have had in a long time. Nice huh?

Tour de Fleece Day 16.

I finished the other singles for this 4oz project. Now to ply. Hopefully it is plyed and ready tomorrow! Fingers crossed.

Tour de Fleece Day 15.

I'm so far behind it isn't even funny. Our road trip really hurt my plans for the tour. But, I'm not going to stop or let it hold me down. I'm finishing up 2 oz of this lovely roving. Hopefully I'll be plying tomorrow.

Tour de Fleece Day 11

You might be wondering ... where did she go and what is she on? Well I've finished the first 2 oz singles of the Kaylee's jacket and have stalled. I have 2 more ounces to finish and of course plying ... I'm one day behind in my goal ... but we are on the road today and hopefully I get caught up. The long and short of it is that I need to push today.

Tour de Fleece Day 9

Image
Day 9 has been a good one. I spun up 2 oz of this BFL called Kaylee's Jacket. It was one of the roving of the months that I signed up for. I'm trying to decided if I can use it as a single for socks or not. Thoughts?

Tour De Fleece Day 8

Here is the roving. Wonderfully bright and happy. Especially with all the clouds and rain that we are experiencing. Well I'm a bit ahead of schedule. I had planned to spend ~3 days/4oz of roving over the tour. I finished my first single yesterday, my second single today and I plyed the singles today as well. This is from Knit It Up. Colorway Blooms. It is 100% Superwash Merino (which I have never spun up before and found it a challenge to get the correct weight). I wanted something thicker and in the end got 340 yards of DK weight. I think a lovely winter hat is in order. I also know - that I'm very very ready for a rest day. Spinning each day at this pace is hard.

Tour de Fleece Day 7

Image
I know this is a day late. The internet has sort of been a bitch on the road. This is from Knit It Up and the colorway is blooms. My first single. I'll finish the next today. It is 100% superwash merino and I have to say ... I've never spun anything so squishy. Part of the tour I wanted to try out the big bin of fibers that I have never spun before. This is the first time I've spun this. I'm still on the fence with it. It seems hard to get exactly what I want out of it.

Tour de Fleece Day 6 - FO

Image
This was the roving ... right out of the bag. Here are the singles. Yep. Another finished item. I'm on track. 4oz of Funky Carolina Scrappy roving. I call it Garden Vegetables. Reminds me of them. It is 520 yards of sport weight. I'm thinking a scarf!

Tour de Fleece Day 5

Image
Well I'm nearly finished with the scrappy singles. My goal was to ply them by Thursday and I think I'll make that. Although spinning on the road - in a moving car - in a storm was a bit strange. And this KAO wouldn't let me post my photos yesterday.

Tour de Fleece 4

Image
Day four. My goal was 2 oz of my scrappy roving spun up ... but I'm one ball short. DARN.

F.O. Back To School Vest

Image
Project Details: Started May 3rd and finished July 4th. Much longer than planned - but what can I say ... I wasn't in the mood. I used Berroco Cotton Twist Solids (7 skeins) on size 5 and 7 needles. The only change to the pattern was that I decreased one needle size for the bust and 2 needles sizes for the neck and sleeve holes. I was worried that the top was going to be too large and the bottom to fitted. But, I think it came out rather well and I do believe that it will make a great fall/winter vest.

Tour de Fleece Day 3 - FO

Image
Remember me going on about this roving . 74% alpaca, 24% silk and 1% angelina. Basically spins its self. I did nothing to spin it. Nothing. I just put it on the wheel and it flew through! 430 yards of sport weight. Now to just figure out what to make with it!

Tour de Fleece Day 2 - Well Oiled Machine

Image
My goal for the first two days of the tour was to finish spinning up 4 oz of the yummy roving I had gotten from Anne. And my goal was met - as were a lot of crashes in the tour. My plan is to ply tomorrow and start on another 4 oz. I'm flying on my to-do-list for the tour. I hope to get through 2 lbs. Possible??

Tour de Fleece Day 1

Image
Day one of the tour has been wonderful. I got through my first 2 oz of the Gimli Blended Roving from Wooly Wonka Fiber. And will be on to the next 2 oz tomorrow. The tour sure does seem good for getting through roving!
